We invite you to a unique musical experience with the magic of the pan flute, the oldest musical instrument in the world.
Petr Tomeček
Professional pan flute player and music producer
A professional musician who was enchanted by the tones of the unusual musical instrument known as the Pan flute. For almost ten years, he has devoted himself entirely to playing this instrument, even though his original musical education at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava was in playing a different wind instrument. He regularly performs at cultural and social events and collaborates with leading artists and musical ensembles not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. Under the name "The Magic Flute," he creates his own concert projects for various occasions, programs for retirement homes, and educational programs for students and elementary school pupils.
Pan's flute
The name comes from Greek mythology. According to legend, there was a god named Pan in Arcadia, protector of shepherds and flocks, who fell in love with a beautiful nymph named Syrinx. Since Pan was half man and half goat, the fair nymph did not return his love. When Pan's interest became unbearable for Syrinx, she began to flee from him and hide. However, the god Pan continued to pursue her, all the way to the river. It was there that the nymph asked the supreme god Zeus to turn her into reeds, and he granted her request. Pan's love was so strong that he made an instrument out of the reeds, consisting of reeds of various lengths, and every evening he played poignant, melancholic melodies on it.
A musical performance full of emotions and memories associated with the most beautiful film and musical melodies, as well as true gems of classical music. The performance will also include commentary.
Tickets can be purchased online or directly at the information stand in the Minorite Monastery in Prague. (Season ticket holders will be given priority if the concert is sold out).
