Petr Písařík
Function: Sculptor and painter, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague
Brief introduction:
A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he studied under Stanislav Kolíbal, Milan Knížák, and Aleš Veselý. He is one of the founders of the Pondělí art group. This globally respected artist works with the postmodern idea of changeability. Through this, he presents his eclectic works using unique techniques and seemingly incompatible materials and forms. He combines unconventional painting, relief, grinding, objects, sculpture, and photography, extending into unique monumental installations and spatial changes. Over the past thirty years, he has presented his works in Brussels, Paris, Vienna, London, Zagreb, Bratislava, and Hangzhou, China. His most significant exhibitions in the Czech Republic include Tondeo Materiam (GASK, Kutná Hora 2021), Star Dust (Vila Pellé, Prague 2020), Space Maker (Rudolfinum Gallery, Prague 2018), and Discobolos (Miroslav Kubík Gallery, Litomyšl 2015). The latter two were accompanied by publications of the same name. His work is represented in many public collections. Its scope extends beyond the imaginary walls of the gallery. We can also encounter it in unusual places, at sculpture and glassmaking symposia, and in charity projects.
